Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe is recruiting for a student worker within the Facilities Maintenance Services department.

Note: This position is subject to a pre-employment, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test. The candidate selected for hire will be required to sign a form acknowledging this policy.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms and restrooms;
  • Disinfect and wipe down various surfaces;
  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors;
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles;
  • Operate snow removal equipment, including snow blowers, shovels, and plows;
  • Perform light painting and touch-ups;
  • Complete minor maintenance tasks such as toilet repairs, unclogging sinks and toilets, and fixing door hardware or keys;
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Walking or standing to a significant degree;
  • Pushing and/or pulling;
  • Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
  • Working with and around hazardous building materials containing solvents and cleaning chemicals;
  • Increased exposure to germs; and
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe;
  • Candidate must be able to work through winter and summer breaks;
  • Candidate must be dependable, reliable, thorough, self-motivated, and detail oriented; and
  • Candidate must be able to work as a member of a team and individually and follow instructions.

Schedule

  • During Semester: Up to 25 hours a week
  • During breaks: Up to 40 hours a week
  • Shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:00 am to 2:30pm.
