About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Accounting Policy. The successful candidate will be a key leader in overseeing the organization's accounting and policy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic guidance to enhance financial performance. This role involves the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures, collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, and leading the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. The AVP will also be responsible for monitoring industry trends and regulatory changes, providing mentorship to a team of accounting professionals, and serving as a liaison with external auditors, regulators, and stakeholders.
Applicants for the AVP Accounting Policy position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a CPA certification preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance within the insurance industry, particularly in life and health insurance, is required. The role demands a strong understanding of insurance accounting principles, policies, and regulations, including GAAP and statutory accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and accounting software applications is essential, and remote work experience is a plus.
