Assistant Teacher - Daycare & Preschool
The Learning Experience - Beltline
Grand Rapids, MI
Pay: $16-$18 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM
Want to work with children and build experience in early childhood education?
The Learning Experience - Beltline is hiring a Full-Time Assistant Teacher to join our classroom team. You'll work alongside experienced teachers, participate in hands-on learning activities, and help create a positive environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school.
Previous professional classroom experience is a plus, but we're also interested in dependable, enthusiastic candidates who are ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Teachers with classroom activities and daily routines
- Engage children through stories, art, music, movement, sensory experiences, and play
- Support meals, rest time, diapering, toileting, and transitions as appropriate
- Encourage positive interactions and growing independence
- Use positive guidance and age-appropriate classroom management
- Help maintain appropriate supervision and classroom ratios
- Build positive relationships with children and families
- Keep classrooms clean, safe, organized, and welcoming
- Collaborate with teachers and center leadership
- Follow Michigan licensing and center requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous childcare, daycare, preschool, or experience working with children preferred
- Professional early childhood experience is a plus, but not required
- CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus
- Willingness to complete required training
- Reliable, patient, positive, and team-oriented
- Must meet Michigan licensing requirements for the position
