**Job Summary:**
As an Order Picker at Walmart, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently selecting merchandise from storage locations to fulfill customer orders or replenish inventory for Walmart stores. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will use handheld devices and picking equipment to locate, retrieve, and pack items according to order specifications. Your attention to detail, speed, and accuracy will ensure that orders are processed promptly and accurately, contributing to Walmart's commitment to providing exceptional service to customers and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Order Picking:**
- Use handheld devices or picking lists to locate and select merchandise from designated storage locations within the warehouse.
- Navigate through aisles and storage racks to retrieve items efficiently, ensuring accuracy and completeness of each order.
- Verify product details, quantities, and quality before packing to ensure customer satisfaction.
2. **Product Packaging:**
- Pack merchandise securely and appropriately for shipping, using packaging materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts.
- Label packages with shipping information, barcodes, tracking numbers, and any other required documentation.
- Ensure that packages are sealed properly to prevent damage during transit.
3. **Inventory Management:**
- Update inventory records in the warehouse management system to reflect items picked and packed for shipment.
- Communicate any inventory discrepancies or shortages to supervisors for resolution.
- Assist in conducting regular cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory levels.
4. **Quality Control:**
- Conduct visual inspections of merchandise for any defects, damages, or discrepancies before picking and packing.
- Report any issues or concerns to supervisors for resolution.
- Follow quality control procedures to maintain high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.
5. **Safety and Compliance:**
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the warehouse.
- Operate equipment safely and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding workplace safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in order picking, warehouse operations, or related field is advantageous.
- Familiarity with handheld devices and warehouse management systems is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in picking and packing merchandise.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and maneuver bulky items using appropriate equipment.
- Physical agility to bend, stoop, reach, and stand for extended periods.
**Working Conditions:**
- Warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Use of warehouse equipment and machinery, including picking devices and packing stations.
- Interaction with team members, supervisors, and delivery personnel throughout the shift.
