We are seeking a dynamic Social Services Supervisor to lead, mentor, and manage our Adult Social Services unit. This critical role is responsible for hiring, training, and directly supervising a team of social service advocates. The ideal candidate is a strong mentor who will ensure our social work practice aligns seamlessly with the legal team's strategy to achieve the best client outcomes. You must be an excellent communicator, a proven collaborator, and skilled in using data to measure and report on program impact.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate monthly unit meetings
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with staff on a regular basis
- Regularly monitor case progress through regular case conversations with team members, review of case spreadsheets and DCM
- Provide supervisory support and advice to social service advocates regarding case assignments and help craft action plans
- Schedule and participate in regular case conferences
- Model critical thinking and in-depth case analysis with supervisees
- Timely assign new cases to unit members in conjunction with Managing Director and other legal team members
- Review of court reports and legal recommendations
- Provide opportunities for staff development
- Provide supervisory support to FIR Coordinator to ensure all SSA staff execute all duties consistently in accordance with SSA policy
- Develop and manage processes for the opening and closing of social work files
- Actively participate in Leadership Team meetings and trainings
- Provide regular performance evaluations
- Work with HR to address issues in a timely manner
- Assist with uncovered caseloads on occasion
- Performs other related duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
MSW strongly preferredMinimum three years of experience working with clients in criminal justice proceedingsPrior supervisory experience preferredExcellent organization and time management skillsAbility to interact effectively and collaboratively with attorneys, clients, office and court personnelAbility to work well with others and handle a variety of tasks simultaneouslyMust have analytical and interpretive skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to travel to City courtrooms, prisons and community placements, as neededGeneral knowledge of the Philadelphia criminal court system and Defender Association policies and proceduresProficient in Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and computer literacy including the ability to learn multiple internal and external computer systemsBenefits & Perks
