An established and rapidly growing engineering consulting firm with a strong presence across the Southeast is seeking an Office Manager to lead its Tallahassee operations. This is a key leadership opportunity for a technically grounded professional with strong business acumen and a passion for developing people, projects, and clients.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, business development drive, and operational leadership - someone equally comfortable managing P&L performance as they are engaging clients or mentoring teams.
About the Role
As Office Manager, you'll oversee a multidisciplinary consulting office delivering geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing services across North Florida and the Panhandle. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of technical operations, safety, quality, and client relationships.
You'll manage a team of approximately 35-40 professionals and directly supervise department managers, business development staff, and administrative support. The office is poised for continued growth and success, supported by strong regional resources and a collaborative leadership culture.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day operations, including project management, staff leadership, safety, and financial performance.
Drive business development efforts, strengthening client relationships and expanding service offerings.
Oversee and support department managers across multiple disciplines.
Ensure quality and safety standards are met across all operations.
Prepare and manage annual business plans, budgets, and staffing projections.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of progressive experience in consulting, ideally across geotechnical, environmental, or construction materials testing.
Proven business development and P&L management experience.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Safety-focused mindset with a record of operational excellence.
PE or PG license not required.
