Summary
The MRI Technologist II performs high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations in a safe and efficient manner while providing excellent patient care. This role requires developed technical knowledge and the ability to operate MRI equipment independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic MRI scans as directed by radiologists.
- Apply correct scan protocols to optimize image quality, minimize scan time, and reduce repeat procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient positioning and appropriate coil selection for each exam.
- Screen patients, families, and staff carefully for MRI contraindications, including pregnancy and implanted devices.
- Follow all MRI safety guidelines and maintain awareness of safety zones and magnetic field risks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Troubleshoot and report any equipment malfunctions or technical issues.
- Comply with all Joint Commission (TJC), state, federal, and local regulatory requirements and departmental protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
Associate’s degree (or equivalent) from a two-year college, technical school, or nursing diploma program.Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of direct experience in MRI imaging.Required Certifications
One of the following certifications is required :ARRT – MRI Specialist – American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistsMRI Technician Certification – American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
