Job Description
As the Tax Digital Consulting Manager, you’ll implement and build third‑party tax systems with major third‑party ERP and billing platforms (SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, Great Plains), as well as custom billing systems for your clients, across a wide variety of industries. You’ll collaborate with team members, practice leadership, and our diverse client base and will play a key role in gathering requirements, design, build, and testing implementation because together is how we succeed. From day one, you’ll be empowered to play a key role in the requirements gathering, design, build, and testing of the implementation of third‑party software products as well as our own custom solution to meet client needs.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Serve as the Project Manager on assigned third‑party tax software implementations (Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, Thomson Reuters, ADP, Billsoft) and custom software development projects
- Manage assigned system integration projects that involve major ERP and billing systems, such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, etc
- Requirements analysis and design for indirect tax software implementations
- Manage programming for custom system interfaces and modification of preexisting interfaces
- Manage testing and support of assigned system go‑live projects
- Develop and deliver key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans
- Help develop and lead staff to enable them to perform core project activities
- Participate in Sales meetings and Proposal Development meetings
- Network and develop key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical fieldMust have one of the following credentials :Project Management Professional, Six Sigma, Lean, or equivalent certification
Master’s degree in accounting, Tax Business Administration, Finance, or Information Systems TaxCertified Member of the Institute for Professionals in TaxationEquivalent accounting certification or law license in home country (e.g., Chartered Accountant)Five years of experience with SAP / Oracle functional and / or technical experienceTwo years of Oracle EBS / ERP Cloud / SAP ABAP Design and Development experienceDeep technical understanding of SAP or Oracle, including customization path, table structures, and core functional Order‑to‑Cash and Procure‑to‑Pay streamsSAP Namespace development a plusExperience writing documentation for ERP implementationsExperience managing and developing team members for these types of implementationsExperience in public accounting is a plusStrong computer skills requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to travel as neededSalary Range
Chicago, IL office : $136,000 – $204,000
Los Angeles, CA / Bellevue, WA / New York, NY offices : $146,000 – $220,300
San Francisco and San Jose offices : $156,400 – $234,600
