SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Med / Surg Unit. The Registered Nurse will Provides professional nursing care to patients of all ages through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interact with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Applies and documents all elements of the nursing process, through assessment, planning, directing, implementing and evaluating the delivery of care for patients.
- Utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
- Full working knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Must be capable of evaluating, planning and decision making in order to solve patient related and administrative problems.
- Must demonstrate core competency required for job performance.
- Language and communication skills of seeing, listening, reading, writing and speaking are necessary to effectively process and present information in English. Accurate mathematical calculations are required.
- Delegates specific tasks to subordinates and assume responsibility for all patient care. Uses clinical judgment throughout the decision making process.
- Works with patients, families and allied health care workers as necessary to assist the patients to their attainable level of wellness.
- Maintains open communication with Clinical Director / Manager, Charge Nurse and / or Administrative Supervisors.
- Participates in unit meetings, unit decision making and quality improvement activities. Supports the unit's standards of practice and the institutional policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates competency in ECG, medication administration, restraint and age specific assessment and care.
- Follows policies and procedures relating to infection control, safety and disaster and other mandatory programs.
- Contributes and assists with the orientation of new personnel.
- Provides supervision for ancillary nursing staff.
- Demonstrates flexibility with additional duties and assignments to achieve departmental goals. Presents a professional appearance and congenial attitude to patients, visitors, physicians and all health team members.
- Manages own time in a productive and reliable manner completing work assignments on time. Completes appropriate volume of work while maintaining quality standards.
- Organizes work procedures to generate acceptable levels of productivity.
- Completes own work as required and will assist others as needed.
- Adjusts work schedule to accommodate changing priorities. Completes own work as required and will assist others as needed.
- Offers assistance to all internal / external customers as appropriate and / or refers customer to appropriate individual or department.
- Communicates in a professional manner emphasizing objectivity and non-judgmental viewpoints. Utilizes proper body mechanics in all job functions.
- Follows established emergency, infection control and / or universal precautions procedures as required. Maintains work area and equipment according to standards and policies.
- Attends mandatory in services related to safety and / or infection control.
- Demonstrates required knowledge and skills to effectively consider individual's diagnosis, diverse culture, religious beliefs and age.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage patients' with special needs. Facilitates patient / family participation in self-care based on age and developmental status. Demonstrates appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age and developmental status.
- Evaluates environmental safety and provides an environment that is safe based on age and developmental status
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required :
Graduate from an accredited or approved school of nursing.Current RN License in the state of IllinoisCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationPreferred :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and / or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
