The Creative / Technical Designer II will play a key role in the development and execution of new products by creating product designs, technical sketches, and maintaining product specifications. This role contributes to product line development through design, print, pattern, and color work while ensuring accuracy and consistency in PLM. The Creative / Technical Designer II collaborates with Product Development Managers and leadership to deliver designs that align with business goals and market needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Design of Products
- Creates designs for new products and develops improvements to existing products.
- Produces technical sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
- Ensures all technical drawings and illustrations are accurate and aligned with selling initiatives.
- Uploads sketches, patterns, and technical drawings into PLM as directed.
Print, Pattern, Color
Creates prints and patterns as assigned.Collaborates with senior managers to provide input on color recommendations in alignment with seasonal / annual palettes.Maintains and organizes ATC’s print, pattern, and material library.Prepares materials for approvals and follows established processes.Project Specifications and Life Cycle Management
Develops and maintains product specifications (including technical drawings) based on retailer and market development needs when applicable.Reviews and updates specifications in PLM to ensure consistency and accuracy of claims.Partners with PD Managers to move existing products into PLM, digitizing all relevant details.Sample, Test and Track Product
Reviews prototypes and samples for accuracy against specifications.Identifies issues with construction, color, print, or pattern and communicates findings to senior staff.Provides feedback on pre-production and top of production samples to support timely resolution of issues.Market Development
Researches trends, technologies, fabrics, etc. in preparation for each seasonal market (Spring and Fall) cycle.Gathers insights on consumer, business, and performance requirements to inform product design.Contributes to concept and mood boards, analyzes collections, reviews fabrics and design concepts.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, textile design, or a related field is requiredMinimum of 3+ years of relevant work experienceSubmission of technical sketches or some relevant work samples is requiredStrong design skills, including sketching, conceptualization, ideation, color and digital designProficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator; exposure to CLO a plus)Knowledge of visually appealing color schemes and design detailsAbility to communicate clearly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsIntermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Centric PLM a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Ability to withstand prolonged periods sitting at a deskFrequent use of upper extremities to perform keyboard functions and work on a computerAbility to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 poundsAbility to intermittently stand / walkSeniority level
