AGRICULTURAL / STANDARDS SPECIALIST - PROVISIONAL

Scheduled Salary Increase : 1% effective 11 / 10 / 25 ($57,824 - $73,814 Annually)

The Fresno County Department of Agriculture invites applications for the position of Agricultural / Standards Specialist - Provisional. Incumbents conduct inspections and enforce provisions of various state codes and applicable Fresno County ordinances. Incumbents also advise and disseminate regulatory information to the public, private industry, government agencies, and special interest groups.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, chemical, or physical sciences or any major approved by the California Secretary of Agriculture that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

OR

Possession of a bachelor's degree that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system with a minimum of thirty (30) semester units or equivalent, in one or any combination of the following disciplines : agricultural sciences, biological sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and / or statistics.

Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

Possession of a valid Class A driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

Note : Permanent status may not be obtained in this classification. Incumbents must obtain the following three (3) valid licenses : (1) Pesticide Regulation; (2) Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation; and (3) Investigation and Environmental Monitoring issued by the California Department of Food and Agriculture and advance to the Agricultural / Standards Specialist level within two (2) years from the date of hire or be rejected during the provisional appointment.

SELECTION PROCESS

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

Please Note : The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months, and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
