The Direct Support Professional functions as an advocate, supporter, educator and caregiver to offer social and emotional support to adults with developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals often teach patients how to complete certain tasks on their own to promote a more independent and satisfying lifestyle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Saturday and Sunday, 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm
- Attention to detail, especially when adhering to specific protocols and rules while carefully following instructions to care for the needs of the client.
- Trustworthiness and dependability so clients and their families feel comfortable relying on them.
- Assist client with day to day duties such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, setting regular medical appointments, and transporting when needed.
- Interpersonal skills when working with clients, including having compassion and being sensitive to their emotional needs when they are in extreme distress or pain.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS :
Must possess DSP one and DSP two certification.Must have prior experience with the developmentally disabled populationMust have a valid CA driver licensed and the ability to transport clients.Must be able to pass FBI / DOJ background checks.
