Electrical Engineering Specialist (Substation) develops designs for electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability / renewable energy systems, and other related electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute a variety of electrical design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing components, and refining rough sketches.
• Incorporate changes to designs or sketches and redline or mark up ongoing projects.
• Contribute to studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and related calculations.
• Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Update design requirements as necessary.
• Contribute to the firm''s TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs and studies.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices; meet with current and potential clients to review design needs.
• Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm''s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor staff for future growth within the discipline and firm.
• Perform other duties as required.

Pay Range : Minimum $81,765 – Maximum $134,909

Additional Compensation : All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
