FII USA, Inc., a Foxconn Technology Group Company , is seeking a Failure Analysis (FA) Lab Manager to join our senior engineering team responsible for product problem resolution of industry-standard server and storage platforms. This position plays a key role in driving root cause identification and corrective actions for elevated factory and field failures, collaborating with both customer and internal Foxconn R&D, Product Engineering, and Quality Engineering organizations.
The FA Lab Manager will oversee day-to-day failure analysis activities, lead a team of engineers and technicians, and ensure that advanced diagnostic techniques and industry best practices are applied to support ongoing improvement in product quality and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
Improve product quality and customer satisfaction through timely, detailed analysis and resolution of hardware issues.
Interface directly with design, product, and manufacturing engineering teams to identify and isolate failure modes down to the component or circuit level.
Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, diagnostics, quality, mechanical, materials, and reliability engineering teams to resolve complex hardware problems.
Facilitate the execution of special failure capture programs (L6, L10, Selective Field & ARDAP / Early Field Capture, ORT, and RMA analysis).
Provide detailed analytical feedback to internal and external design, process, and manufacturing teams based on FA results.
Develop and communicate technical troubleshooting guidelines and analytical techniques that can be deployed across global manufacturing and service centers.
Drive standardization and implementation of “best circuit analysis practices” across worldwide FA, RMA, and service operations.
Maintain lab documentation including test procedures, failure reports, calibration records, and safety compliance.
Oversee lab operations including workflow scheduling, task assignment, and technical mentorship for FA engineers and technicians.
Ensure all investigations follow established ESD, safety, and quality protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Technical skills required :
Proficiency with destructive and nondestructive metrologies (Dye and Pull, Cross-Section, SEM / EDX, 2D / 3D X-Ray imaging, CSAM, FTIR, XRF, OMM / CMM, Shadow Moiré, Electrical Continuity).
Strong knowledge of IPC and JEDEC standards.
Familiarity with laboratory standards such as ISO / IEC 17025.
Ability to deduce failure mechanisms from failure signatures.
5–10 years of experience in electronics failure analysis, debugging, or product design for computing and storage platforms.
Demonstrated ability to debug complex hardware issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and related test equipment.
Strong understanding of server and storage technologies, including Intel and AMD x86 / ARM multicore processors, DDR2–DDR5 and NAND memory, and PCA design.
Working knowledge of high-speed interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, SAS, SATA, NVMe, SCSI, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
Familiarity with full hardware / software development life cycle, including firmware and diagnostic test methodologies.
Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional and cross-organizational engineering teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support global FA operations and team development.
Must be able to sit or stand at lab workstations for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
