We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in Stamford, Connecticut. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations through precise reconciliations and accounting expertise. The role focuses on maintaining accurate records, supporting accounts payable functions, and assisting with various financial reporting tasks.
Responsibilities :
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and general ledger entries to ensure financial accuracy.
- Compile and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining organized records and identifying discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit Federal Reserve Regulation D reports, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
- Process deposit data using specialized reclassification software and download daily general ledger entries.
- Reconcile loan and deposit transactions to the general ledger on a daily basis, addressing any inconsistencies.
- Collect and monitor monthly general ledger reconcilements and generate account aging reports.
- Support investment-related tasks, including verifying custody reports, conducting yield analyses, and preparing tax exemption memos.
- Assist with accounts payable functions, including invoice allocation, payment processing, and check issuance.
- Research and resolve issues related to accounts payable, daily reconciliations, and other financial discrepancies.
- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits, maintaining organized files and documentation.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on reconciliations and accounts payable.
- Proficiency in Oracle General Ledger and Accounts Payable systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with bookkeeping practices and automated accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities to manage various responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- High school diploma required; additional education or certifications in accounting is a plus.
