The Tooling Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of tooling used in the manufacturing process. This role ensures that all tooling meets the required specifications and quality standards, and supports production efficiency and safety. The Tooling Manager will collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize tooling performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the design, development, and implementation of new tooling and fixtures.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify tooling needs and develop solutions.
- Ensure all tooling meets quality standards and specifications.
- Develop and maintain documentation for tooling designs, modifications, and maintenance procedures.
- Implement and monitor tooling performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage tooling inventory and coordinate procurement of new tools and materials.
- Train and mentor team members on tooling best practices and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for tooling-related issues.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to cost reduction efforts.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in tooling design and management within a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of tooling materials, design principles, and manufacturing processes.Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong project management and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.Effective communication and leadership skills.Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in aerospace or automotive industry.Familiarity with GE Aerospace FLIGHT DECK lean operating model (for internal candidates).Knowledge of composite tooling and materials.Working Conditions :
This position may require occasional travel to supplier or customer sites.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.Safety and Quality Commitment :
