American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Rehab inpatient position on night shifts requiring Level 1 Trauma experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 52-bed Neuro Rehab unit within an acute hospital setting
  • Serves a 90% neurological patient population, including traumatic brain injury, brain tumor resection, CVA, and organ transplant cases
  • RN to patient ratio is 1 : 6 with 2 charge RNs with light assignments based on census
  • 12-hour night shifts with four weekend shifts per 4-week period and rotation for 2 of 4 major holidays
  • Floating required to any Med Surg unit within the hospital
  • Cerner is the EMR system used
  • No telemetry or ventilator management required
  • Patients receive interdisciplinary therapy 5 out of 7 days, 3 hours per day
  • Responsibilities include IV therapy, wound care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team
  • Requires high-level communication and personal involvement with patients and families
  • Orientation includes floor-specific training and simulation assessments on day one
  • Men must be clean-shaven for fit tests and all staff must have natural hair color with no facial piercings
  • Scrub color required is slate grey
  • Must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
  • Two professional references required, including one supervisor reference from the past 12 months
  • First-time travelers may be considered

    • Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
  • Must have previous Level 1 Trauma experience
  • Strong Med Surg experience required; rehab experience preferred
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance with two attempts allowed
  • Must pass a sterile technique simulation lab on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
