Controller

Heart and Vascular Partners (HVP) is a fast-paced, growing Medical Services Organization supporting cardiovascular practices across multiple states. The Controller will play a critical role in the company’s continued growth by overseeing all accounting functions and ensuring that systems and processes are in place to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, as well as successful completion of the annual audit. Serving as a strategic partner to the CFO, the Controller will provide “customer-friendly” financial support to both operations and corporate team members. The successful candidate will bring both technical expertise and leadership, driving process improvement and change management in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions of the Role :

• Ensure all accounting functions are performed accurately, completely, and timely in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies / procedures.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, treasury, and cash management activities.
• Maintain a robust system of internal controls and ensure processes are well-documented and consistently followed.
• Lead month-end close, internal and external financial reporting, and the annual audit.
• Plan and coordinate with external professionals for year-end audit, tax return preparation, and insurance policy renewals.
• Provide accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to the Board of Directors, executive leadership, lenders, and operations team.
• Partner with department leaders and operations team on financial performance, statistics, and budget variances.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and collaborate across departments to drive profitability.
• Assist with annual budget, forecasts, ad hoc analysis, and strategic initiatives.
• Continuously evaluate workflows, identify opportunities for efficiency, and lead process improvement initiatives.
• Guide the team through change management to strengthen operational effectiveness and scalability.
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Foster an environment of learning and growth through regular feedback, coaching, training, and performance management.
• Recruit, retain, and mentor staff to ensure depth of capability and succession readiness.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Work Environment

This position can serve as a hybrid position, reporting to the office 2 days per week and working remote 3 days per week.  The corporate office is located in Northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Physical Requirements

This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a typical business office environment.
