ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY : Under the direction of AR supervisor and Assistant Controller, the student Accounting Assistant will provide accounting and administrative support to the accounting or financial services department. This position is designed to give students hands-on experience in accounting tasks while supporting daily financial operations.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety) :
- Assist in recording and processing invoices, receipts, journal entries, cashiering activities, and other financial transactions.
- Help prepare and maintain spreadsheets, ledgers, and financial records.
- Support account reconciliation and verification of financial statements for accuracy.
- Perform filing, scanning, and organizing accounting documents (digital and physical).
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities under staff supervision.
- Conduct basic financial analysis or data checks as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
- Assist in general office, and administrative support to the accounting team as needed.
- Provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Possess the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
- Assist individuals via phone, email or in person.
- Assist with special projects.
- Must be able to communicate regularly with direct supervisor all work status updates as well as task completions.
- The student assistant must possess the ability to work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.

Must be a currently enrolled student (preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field).Basic knowledge of accounting concepts and financial documentation.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.Good organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Completion of at least one introductory accounting course (e.g., Financial Accounting).Prior experience in an office, finance, or accounting environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.Ability to manage multiple tasks in a part-time schedule effectively.ABOUT US : As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
