Technical Skills Worker (Part-Time/Year-Round) - City

$18. - $28.00 Hourly

Note : The normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and / or the City’s step placement policy.

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.

S., 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION

This position is located in the Storm Water Quality Division of the Public Works Department within the City of Oklahoma City.

Daily job task assignments include individual or team-based assignments of technical or non-technical nature. Applicant will work with various technical and supervisory staff to perform water quality-based monitoring, equipment maintenance & calibrations, provide accurate and clear documentation of work performed, and perform general field labor as needed to maintain field stations.

Position will often be responsible to draft various summaries and reports related to field activities. The preferred applicant should have applied experience with water quality monitoring, biological collections, inspections and documentation.

Position is primarily field based, with occasional office work. Assigned field work may involve strenuous physical labor in extreme weather conditions.

Applicant should have basic skills in listening and following instructions. Applicant may be required to work late hours or weekends, depending on the nature of the work.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is primarily responsible for performing work of a technical nature that varies depending on the program to which assigned.

The position uses subject matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments that may consist of numerous steps that vary in nature and sequence.

Licenses, certifications, and / or relevant experience and education in the assigned technical field are typically required prior to assuming this position.

• Examples of duties may include : providing technical assistance in solid waste collection activities or line maintenance collection or distribution duties;
• working independently to read water meters for utility billing; driving / operating / transporting materials and equipment;
• performing herbicides and / or pesticides application; driving, operating, and removing, pruning, maintaining and preparing trees for relocation;

providing technical assistance or performing technical support functions. The necessary skills, knowledge. and ability and / or licenses and certifications to perform departmental specific tasks must be acquired prior to assuming the duties of the position.

For positions located in the Parks and Recreation Department a Class A Commercial driver license (CDL) is required. For positions located in the Utilities Department a Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL) may be required.

Possession of a valid driver license (Operator) is required.

Note : This position requires you to be at least 18 years old at the time you make application.

Note : This position will work no more than 29 hours per week.

Pay Method : City employees are required to receive pay electronically, either via direct deposit or pay card.

Background Investigation, Drug Testing, Physical Examination : Upon a conditional offer of employment / acceptance of position, the City of Oklahoma City will conduct a criminal history background check for external applicants.

Applicants will be provided contact information for any third-party reporting agencies used to collect background information in connection with conditional offers of employment.

If the position accepted includes a driver license (commercial or non-commercial) Job Requirement, the City of Oklahoma City will obtain a Motor Vehicle Report for internal and external applicants.

If the position accepted is safety sensitive and / or a driving position, internal and external applicants will be provided a copy of the City of Oklahoma City's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy prior to being directed for a drug test.

If the position accepted is cyber security sensitive, internal and external applicants will be subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Interstate Identification Index (III) Fingerprint Background check.

Additionally, employees in this job classification must complete Level 4 Security Awareness Training and pass an online certification test.
