District Advisor, Community Engagement

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a District Advisor, Community Engagement for the Whole Child and Community Design department of the Student Services and Programs division. The job of District Advisor, Community Engagement advises, provides technical assistance, develops, and disseminates resources to local educational agencies (LEAs) as part of the California Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) 2.0 and program practices. The current vacancy will support SDCOE's leadership role in the statewide Community Engagement Initiative (CEI), a $100+ million California Department of Education program designed to build authentic partnerships between schools, families, and communities to improve student outcomes. It will require some travel throughout the state. The current vacancy is grant-funded through June 30, 2029.

Whole Child and Community Design is a commitment to honoring diverse voices, leveraging community relationships, and ensuring the well-being and success of every child. SDCOE operates one of eight regional technical assistance centers that will support local LEAs with the complexities of community schools planning, implementation, capacity building, and organization, and help districts implement culturally relevant practices and build equitable systems that create conditions for all members of the school community to thrive.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires the following Education and Experience and Certificates, Licenses, and Credentials :

Education and Experience :

Education : A master's degree in education, education administration, or related field; and,

Experience : At least four (4) years of experience in a site, district or county-level administrative educational setting, designing, and delivering high-quality, professional learning that resulted in improved outcomes for students. Experience working with diverse student and adult learner populations are required. Professional development leading equity, diversity, inclusion, and / or whole-child initiatives for a school district is highly preferred.

OR Equivalency :

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master's degree in education, education administration, or related field and at least four (4) years of experience in a district-level administrative educational setting, designing, and delivering high-quality, professional learning that resulted in improved outcomes for students. Experience working with diverse student and adult learner populations are required. Professional development leading whole-child and / or community school initiatives for a school district are highly preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Credentials :

Valid CA Administrative Services Credential

Valid CA Teaching Credential
