8420 Security Services Manages personnel involved in establishing, promoting and maintaining hospital programs by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff. Assures competency of all personnel through training, education, and inspections. Participate in budgetary planning. Maintains efficient and effective department operation for the security services department, while requiring compliance with all Joint Commission, State, Federal and local regulatory laws, its standards and protocols. Supports the Kaweah Health's Mission, Vision and Values through the Security Management Program.

Qualifications

License / Certification Required :

Proprietary Private Security Officer or Guard / Patrolperson registration.

HeartSaver AED

Valid California Drivers License. Must provide DMV report prior to offer being made. No driving infractions 5 years prior to hire or during time in this job. Infractions include DUI, Suspended or Revoked License, Reckless Driving.

Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire / transfer. International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Supervisor certification within 3 months of hire / transfer.

Experience Required : Five years experience in police or security field which includes two years continuous experience in a lead or supervisory capacity, or any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to function decisively under stress. Effective leadership ability with team-oriented approach. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Knowledge of criminal law as it relates to job duties. Must become familiar with applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Testing Must pass the Physical Capacity Exam (PCE). This exam includes a 50-pound lifting requirement.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Coordinates, manages, directs, and reports daily activities of the Security staff in the protection of Kaweah Health patients, visitors, staff and property. Coordinates and supervises activities such as : staff assistance with patient restraint and intervention in disruptions by patients, visitors and staff, traffic control, guard and patrol physical property, escort service for visitors and staff, monitor systems response, orient and monitor personnel working in high risk areas, and investigation of accidents and criminal acts. Assists Security Manager in developing, revising and implementing security policies and procedures in compliance with Kaweah Health policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws. Reviews and evaluates reports prepared by security staff regarding investigations of reports of criminal activities. Conducts follow-up investigation of reports of criminal activity. Supervises security personnel, participates in the interviewing and selection of applicants for employment, reviews employee performance, conducts training for Security staff, and applies Kaweah Health and personnel policy to daily operations. Intervenes whenever conditions exist that pose an immediate threat to life or health, or poses a threat to equipment or the facility. Assists department managers / directors and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes. Performs all duties of a Security Guard.

Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Ensures that all emergency lighting is tested monthly and that all emergency eye-wash stations and showers are tested per policy. Assists in the enforcement of risk determination, interim life safety implementation and infection control for all construction or remodel projects throughout the Kaweah Health.

Pay Range $32.64 -$48.96
