Our headquarters are in Jessup, Maryland, with manufacturing in Madera, CA; Milford, DE; and Dayton, TN. As a bilingual leader on our Assembly Team, you will guide a high-performing crew on the shop floor in an hourly position focused on safety, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.

A day in this role

You kick off the shift with a toolbox talk—in English and Spanish—clarifying priorities, confirming safety, and aligning on production goals. You assign work based on skills and accountability, make sure materials are staged, and verify that every mechanic understands the standard work. Throughout the day, you coach for quality, monitor takt against the Daily and Weekly Production Schedule, and step in to remove roadblocks. You champion LEAN and 5S, keep the area audit-ready, and model BAC’s values : Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation . When issues arise, you investigate, document, and drive corrective action. You wrap up by capturing metrics, providing feedback, and preparing the team for a strong handoff.

What you will do

  • Own safety for yourself and your team; enforce rules and proper PPE usage at all times.
  • Promote continuous improvement and LEAN practices; drive 5S excellence.
  • Serve as a backup for team members and the Shift Supervisor when needed.
  • Delegate work based on skill and accountability; ensure clear, timely communication.
  • Set objectives with the Team Leader; deliver quarterly progress feedback.
  • Support the Shift Supervisor with annual performance reviews.
  • Train employees on technical tasks; maintain an accurate skills matrix.
  • Onboard new hires : assign Buddy & Mentor and follow up weekly.
  • Assist with detailed accident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Stay aligned to the production schedule; secure resources, materials, and information for mechanics.
  • Meet or exceed shift production goals and uphold process discipline for quality.
  • Lead toolbox and other communication meetings; run effective stand-ups.
  • Follow Shift Leader Standard Work; complete other assigned duties.
  • Counsel and coach when safety, quality, or productivity standards are not met.
  • Advance sustainability by reducing waste, energy, and water use.
  • Encourage original thinking; translate new ideas into process or business improvements.

Reporting lines

You report to the Shift Supervisor as part of the department leadership team and share responsibility for achieving departmental goals. In the Supervisor’s absence, you will run the department.

What you bring

  • Proven frontline leadership : directing, delegating, following up, and exercising sound judgment independently.
  • Experience building high-performing teams and developing senior mechanics as mentors and influencers.
  • Strong bilingual communication : working command of English (written and spoken) and Spanish to guide mixed-language teams.
  • Excellent written documentation (procedures, reports, emails) and confident verbal communication with mechanics, peers, and customers.
  • Meeting facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Problem-solving capability and use of Continuous Improvement tools.
  • Computer proficiency : Word, Excel (intermediate—update data, generate metrics), databases, PeopleSoft, Internet, and ADI.
  • Product knowledge depth across BAC models and parts; familiarity with procedures, policies, and ISO instructions for quality.
  • Comfort collaborating with engineers; provide technical details and raise engineering change requests.

Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Occasional weekend work is typical, and availability is expected for any of the three operating shifts.
