Veterinary Technician Manager, Veterinary Teaching Hospital

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) Technician Manager will oversee and supervise service technician supervisors / team leaders and partner with faculty service leaders.

They will work closely with Hospital Leadership and Service Core Managers Anesthesia, Imaging) to integrate best practices and routines throughout the hospital.

They will collaborate across service / units and provide leadership support and guidance. They will also establish clearly defined short and long-term objectives for their direct reports and serves as a facilitator of written and verbal communication in a timely and effective manner.

Successful candidate should have flexibility with their schedule to meet the needs of 24 / 7 operations.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

A signing bonus and / or moving expenses may be considered for eligible and successful candidates. Required Job Qualifications

• 3 years of leadership / supervisory experience
• 5 years of veterinary experience
• Registered Veterinary Technician
• Bachelors degree in a health, life science, or closely related field.
• Substitutions for the Bachelors degree : Associates Degree plus 7 years of relevant experienceHS diploma / GED plus 9 years of relevant experience

• Supervises service technician supervisors / leads and partners with faculty service leaders.
• Ensures the hospital provides excellent client service and patient care.
• Identifies opportunities for enhanced patient care through training as well as investment opportunities new equipment, protocols etc.)
• Mentors and coaches service technician supervisors / leads in an effort to provide an exemplary employee experience throughout the hospital.
• Serves as a member of the VTH leadership team and collaborates with leaders in different services / departments (Client Service, Facilities, etc.).
• Directs, mentors, and advises supervisors on staffing and workflows to provide optimal patient care throughout the hospital.
• Collaborates with HR department to ensure that supervisors / leaders are providing thoughtful reviews / performance evaluations.

• Oversees veterinary technician internships / externships through local (and non-local) veterinary technology colleges to ensure that we provide a positive learning environment to attract future talent.
• Represents the VTH at local and non-local veterinary conferences to attract talent on an as needed basis.

• Partners with TAC and oversees veterinary technician / veterinary assistant continuing education efforts and develops new opportunities as well as refining prior efforts.
• Reviews / approves continuing education allotments offered through the VTH.
• Aide in the development of and cross-training of team members throughout the VTH.

• Participates in interpreting and developing financial reports / metrics / budgets to ensure the financial success of the VTH.
• Evaluates staffing levels and identifies opportunities to best utilize staffing resources.
