Java Mainframe Developer

Overview

Join GovCIO as a Java Mainframe Developer, where you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing mission-critical applications that support the DCSA background investigation processes. This role requires a willingness to learn legacy / mainframe technologies.

Your expertise will contribute to providing architecture, development, and cybersecurity support for High Value Assets (HVAs) within the background investigation system. This position offers flexibility for full remote work, while you may occasionally need to visit locations such as Baltimore, MD, Quantico, VA, or Boyers, PA.

Responsibilities

Develop applications following specifications using appropriate tools.

Maintain and modify existing software applications to enhance performance.

Analyze systems factors including input and output requirements, information flow, and software requirements to find optimal solutions.

Make modifications to operational programs and procedures as necessary.

Participate in code reviews to ensure standards and specifications are met.

Create and update program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides according to established standards.

Troubleshoot software issues and engage in efforts for improvements and enhancements.

Collaborate as a team member on a variety of projects.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience :

Bachelor's degree with 5 to 8 years of experience or equivalent experience.

Open to learning legacy technologies and tools such as Natural.

4 to 6 years of experience with Java development.

Proficiency in building web-based applications.

In-depth knowledge of Java and Java EE (JEE).

Familiarity with agile methodologies.

Effective troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

A collaborative approach to teamwork.

Clearance Required : US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a TS Security Clearance.

Preferred Skills and Experience :

Active Top-Secret security clearance.

Experience with IBMs Connect : Direct for file transfers.

Proficiency in programming with Natural using ADABAS.

Experience in Software AG's NaturalONE Eclipse-based development environment.

Familiarity with IBM MQ.

Knowledge of Confluence and Jira.

Experience with ServiceNow.

Proficient in using MS Teams for meeting hosting.
