Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at UChicago Medicine as a  Public Safety Coordinator  in the Security Department.

The Public Safety Coordinator (PSC) provides unarmed uniformed safety, security and customer centered services to all patients, visitors, and staff of the Medical Center.

Primary responsibilities include; greeting visitors and managing the issuance / collection of visitor badges at main entry points, validating visitor identification, providing directions and assistance, conducting foot patrols of buildings and grounds to deter crime, prevent loss and promote a safe environment, assisting Public Safety Officers (PSO) in response to security related incidents and emergencies, documenting incidents and events, performing special security detail, and maintaining compliance with security policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions :

Greet & Verify :

• Greet incoming patients and visitors to the medical center and verify reason for visit.
• Validate proper identification of incoming patients, visitors and staff.
• Provide accurate directions to patients and visitors to insure they reach their destination within the medical center.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
