Residential Mental Health Tech - PRN all shifts availableDays Nights and Weekends
At Houston Methodist the Residential MentalHealth Technician position is responsible for demonstrating theskills necessary to effectively facilitate tasks for residentialpatients needs such as personal hygiene ambulation and healthybehaviors.
This position promotes and maintains a safe environmentconducive to social interaction healing and healthy functioningwhile working under the supervision and guidance of clinical staffto provide direct patient care within the parameters of their scopeand the plan of care.
The Residential Mental Health Technicianposition reports observations records data and patient dilemmas tothe senior clinical staff members rounds in the facility to ensurea safe orderly environment while safeguarding clients according totheir daily activity schedules with the ultimate goal of motivatingclients to be as independent as possible while still providingneeded assistance.
PEOPLE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Maintainsprofessional boundaries and confidences with patients and staff;providing direct personal care and supervision to patients inaccordance with individual service plan(s) to include professionalgrooming personal appearance speech andhygiene.
- Establishestherapeutic relationships with patients; actively encouragespatient participation in activities and meetings.
Initiatesinteractions in a supportive and therapeutic manner; assisting withactivities of daily living asindicated.
Conducts selfin a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity equity andinclusion principles. Contributes towards improvement of departmentscores for employee engagement i.
e. peertopeeraccountability.
SERVICEESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Providescare consistent with patients developmental level to maximizepatient functioning. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and / orchanges in the patients health status and responses to treatment toa licensedprofessional
- Offersobservations to various team members regarding patientcare.
- Serves as anadvocate forpatients.
- Participates inpsycheducational groups with patients asassigned.

- Roundsin the facility to ensure a safe orderly environment whilesafeguarding clients according to their daily activityschedules.
- Performscompetent situational monitoring and awareness to provide a safeenvironment.
- Communicatesteam resource and performance improvement needs to ensure qualityand customer service standards impacting quality and safetydepartment targets.
FINANCEESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Maintains accurateand complete documentation of patient interventions and educationperformed in a timely manner in the medical record.
Accuratelyenters charges for services provided asapplicable.
Selfmotivatedto independently manage time effectively and prioritize dailytasks. Uses resources effectively andefficiently.

EDUCATION
HighSchool diploma or equivalent education (examples include : GEDverification of homeschool equivalency partial or full completionof postsecondary educationetc.)
WORKEXPERIENCE
One yearexperience providing care in a setting including hospital nursinghome treatment facility assisted living or home health / privateduty
LICENSES ANDCERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- CPIICertified Crisis Prevention Instructor (CPI) within 6 monthsand
- BLS Basic Life Support (AHA)
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ANDABILITIES
- Demonstrates theskills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assignedjob determined through ongoing skills competency assessments andperformanceevaluations
- Sufficientproficiency in speaking reading and writing the English languagenecessary to perform the essential functions of this job especiallywith regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety orsecurity
- Ability toeffectively communicate with patients physicians family members andcoworkers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus andapplication of positive languageprinciples
- Proficient inorienting newly admitted patients to theprogram
- Assists patientsto utilize free time in a healthymanner
