Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on a busy surgical oncology floor, requiring a compact or OH RN license and at least two years of recent experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a mixed-acuity PCU that also cares for Med Surg patients, serving adult and geriatric populationsUnit treats surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics cases with a focus on complex cancer careStaffing ratios are typically 1 : 4, occasionally 1 : 5Night shift (3x12 hrs, 7 : 00pm–7 : 30am) with day / night flexibility based on unit needsWeekend requirements are variable depending on unit needsSelf-scheduling is used, with requests considered before final postingFirst week of orientation is Monday–Friday day shift, followed by three 12-hour shifts with a preceptorEpic EMR is utilized on the unitResponsibilities include caring for surgical oncology patients, administering chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, managing drips, and responding to oncologic emergenciesStrong focus on infection prevention and fall protocols due to vulnerable patient populationMust complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon acceptance, regardless of current locationFormer employees eligible after a 6-month break; current employees at any Ohio State University hospital are ineligibleLocals are accepted at the same rate as travelersTime-off requests must be submitted during application and built into the contractScrub or dress code details not specifiedRequirements
Valid OH or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent PCU or relevant experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are requiredGraduation from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing programONS Chemotherapy certification is preferredTwo professional references required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, or charge RN (no coworker references accepted)Benefits
