You’re famous for your incredible attention to detail and your ability to spot errors, zoom in on snafus, dot i’s, cross t’s and generally make the team look better. And that’s why we want you in particular to apply for this gig with a company that’s made a well-deserved name for itself as a disruptor in the educational space. You’ll see to the quality of the company’s content, making corrections and working with creators to get things right. Sounds custom-made for the likes of you, doesn’t it?
Nitty Gritty
Your virtual home will be the company’s content management system, where you will apply your acumen and scrutiny. Obviously you’ll be no stranger to said content, having spent plenty of time with the team, as well as other stakeholders throughout the company, familiarizing yourself with what’s being built and how it’s supposed to look and feel. You’ll be the liaison bridging the gap between writers, designers, developers, and the quality-assurance process, so it’s high-profile, with a good deal of responsibility. In the end, you’ll be responsible for how the content looks to the outside world. Of course, if something doesn’t look right to you, you’ll often go out to the teams to get clarification, which means lots and lots of communication throughout the organization.

We’ve already talked about your sharp eye, your technical knack and ability to see something fresh even after multiple viewings. It also kind of goes without saying that you have prior experience working in CMS. A smattering of design experience would not come amiss, nor would exposure to Adobe Creative, HTML or Agile.
But on top of all those more technical aspects, you’re going to need some first-rate communication and interpersonal skills. That is, you’ll need to be super-comfortable dropping in on people and asking dumb questions and actually listening, and you’ll need to be super-diplomatic when it comes to alerting people to problems in the content and working together toward solutions.
Inside Skinny
Beyond knowing your way around a CMS, while the employer is not requiring an EdTech background, that would still be viewed as a definite plus, as would be a basic knowledge of science. So be sure to mention any academic or employment-related experiences in those areas, be they ever so humble.
