Senior Director, IT Data Management
This is a hybrid position based at our corporate office in Brentwood, TN, with on-site work required Monday through Wednesday. The Sr. Director, Data Management, serves as the leader of a team of data engineers and application developers within the Surgery Partners IT department. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of experience in data warehouse architecture, application development, and team leadership, with the ability to effectively prioritize resources and guide strategic initiatives. This team is responsible for integrating enterprise systems (EHR, ERP, HRIS, etc.) into a centralized data warehouse and developing and maintaining custom web applications. The role also includes driving cross-functional collaboration, estimating effort for new projects, and data movement in and out of the organization. This position reports to the CIO.
Job Summary
- Lead, direct, and be accountable for the overall performance of the data management and application development teams, consisting of data engineers, and application developers.
- Establish performance expectations and standards, serve as a role model, and provide leadership direction.
- Train and mentor team members on new processes.
- Serve as a leader in cloud technology strategy and implementation, with a focus on scalable data solutions and modernization.
- Design, lead the maintenance, and monitor ETL processes feeding billing, financial, and procurement system information into the enterprise data warehouse.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new technologies and processes to improve data and development workflows.
- Leverage metrics, data, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and transformation.
- Understand process requirements and design ETL solutions that effectively address those needs.
- Architect and lead the creation of data models using fact and dimension structures.
- Architect, develop, and maintain data pipelines used within company-wide reporting solutions such as Microsoft SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, and Sigma.
- Coordinate with vendors and manage vendor schedules related to data delivery solutions.
- Practice and reflect knowledge of HIPAA and other federal / state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems.35 years of experience leading development teams in a management role.10+ years of experience designing tables, writing stored procedures, maintaining database processes, and query tuning.10+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server.8+ years of experience developing with ETL tools, particularly SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).Proficient in C#, .NET, and JavaScript.Demonstrated experience creating data sources for reporting solutions such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).Preferred experience working with at least one medical billing system (e.g., HST, NextGen, Meditech, Cerner).Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and communication skills.Experience implementing and maintaining CI / CD pipelines.Familiarity with sFTP file delivery processes.Experience with Azure Databricks and cloud migration is a plus.Experience with data warehouse services in Azure (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Data Warehouse).Knowledge of financial or healthcare domains is a plus.Familiarity with ServiceNow is a plus.Benefits
