Job description

Location:

  • Blanche Kahn Medical Center, 1221 East 14th Street, Brooklyn, NY Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience Schedule: Part-time, afternoon hours About the Role Blanche Kahn Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Physical Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team.
  • This position provides outpatient physical therapy services to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

Key Responsibilities Evaluation & Treatment:

  • Conduct evidence-based evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to enhance mobility, function, and independence.

Person-Centered Care:

  • Establish goals that respect each patient’s dignity, culture, and unique needs.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Work closely with medical providers, caregivers, and families to ensure coordinated care Documentation: Complete accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system (paid administrative time provided).

Education & Support:

  • Educate patients and support staff on home exercise programs, safety strategies, and functional skills for daily living.

Qualifications Licensure:

  • Current and valid New York State Physical Therapist license (required).

Experience:

  • Experience working with adults with I/DD is strongly preferred; motivated clinicians eager to learn are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical judgment, clear documentation, and empathetic communication skills.
