Full Stack Software Engineer III-V

Build Scalable Technology Solutions That Support Mission-Critical Operations

Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC), Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC), and Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC) are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support scalable, secure, and high-performing applications that enable operational success across the enterprise.

This role supports the full software development lifecycle, including front-end development, back-end services, database design, system integration, cloud deployment, and ongoing operational support.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to translate operational needs into reliable, integrated technology solutions that improve performance, support modernization, and strengthen enterprise capabilities.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across the technology stack, solving complex problems, building modern applications, and contributing to cloud transformation and mission-critical enterprise systems.

Candidates with deeper experience, advanced technical expertise, and demonstrated leadership capabilities may be considered for higher-level classifications (Engineer IV or V).

What You'll Do

As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and supporting applications that help power data-driven decisions, operational efficiency, and enterprise modernization.

You will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications across the full technology stack.
  • Build modern, responsive, and user-friendly interfaces using React or similar front-end frameworks.
  • Develop back-end services, RESTful APIs, and microservices using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, and Python.
  • Design and support database solutions using platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between enterprise platforms to support data accuracy, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to system design, API design, microservices architecture, and application modernization initiatives.
  • Deploy and support applications in cloud environments, including Azure and other cloud-native platforms as needed.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Use containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code practices, including tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues across the stack, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Plan and execute application upgrades, enhancements, optimizations, and production support activities.
  • Apply secure coding practices and support application and infrastructure security initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and iterative development processes.

At advanced levels, this role may also:

  • Lead technical initiatives, application modernization efforts, and enterprise development projects.
  • Provide technical direction related to application architecture, system integration, cloud solutions, and performance optimization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the IT organization.
  • Oversee major technical initiatives and provide strategic technical leadership across IT functions.
  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and modern engineering practices across the application portfolio.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field of study from an accredited college or university. A combination of experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, technical growth, and high-quality software delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Full Stack Development

  • Experience developing applications using Java, Spring Boot, React.js or similar frameworks, Python, Node.js, and related technologies.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and API management.
  • Experience with database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB.
  • Experience designing applications for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Cloud, DevOps & Platform Experience

  • Experience deploying and supporting applications in Azure; experience with AWS or GCP is also a plus.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and application modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, automated testing, and deployment practices.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps best practices.
  • Experience with observability, logging, monitoring, and application health metrics.

Security & Emerging Technology

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security concepts, including OAuth, JWT, and SSL.
  • Familiarity with machine learning or artificial intelligence technologies is a plus.
  • Experience supporting compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement in a regulated or mission-critical environment is preferred.

Leveling Overview

  • Engineer III - Experienced contributor with four or more years of full stack development experience; independently manages development tasks and production support while leading smaller initiatives and contributing to team projects.
  • Engineer IV - Advanced contributor with six or more years of experience, including application architecture and system optimization; leads development projects, provides technical direction, and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver integrated enterprise solutions.
  • Engineer V - Subject matter expert with eight or more years of experience architecting and managing enterprise-scale applications; oversees major technical initiatives, provides strategic technical leadership, and drives innovation across IT functions.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure adherence to applicable corporate policies and regulatory standards, including RUS, OSHA, SOX, NERC, FERC, and ITS requirements.
  • Apply secure coding practices and support application and infrastructure security initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
