Reliability Engineer

Role Impact This role advances and executes a plant-wide reliability strategy within a fast-paced, / food manufacturing environment. The Reliability Engineer drives reduced downtime, extended asset life, and a proactive maintenance culture aligned with safety, quality, and operational excellence standards. The position combines hands-on engineering expertise with front-line leadership across operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS.
Key Responsibilities • Lead reliability and maintainability initiatives across production, packaging, utilities, automation systems, and plant infrastructure
• Design, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Execute vibration analysis, infrared thermography, lubrication standards, and oil analysis programs
• Lead failure analysis using RCA, Whys, and FMEA methodologies
• Identify engineering and process improvement opportunities through daily floor observations
• Maintain reliability documentation, including maintenance plans, procedures, equipment histories, and change management records
• Ensure compliance with food safety requirements, GMPs, PMO standards, and internal quality systems
• Train and develop maintenance technicians in troubleshooting, repair techniques, lubrication standards, and safe work practices
• Teach electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including PLCs, ladder logic, schematics, and PID control
• Coordinate shift-level maintenance activities and participate in maintenance and reliability meetings
• Communicate equipment deficiencies and drive corrective actions to completion
• Support autonomous maintenance teams and continuous improvement initiatives
• Prepare reports for audits, compliance, budgeting, and performance tracking
• Provide on-floor leadership to resolve repetitive issues and collect reliability data
• Coordinate team-based problem-solving sessions to address chronic failures
• Correct unsafe or quality-related hazards immediately and track resolution
• Support operations during reliability-related disruptions with schedule flexibility
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
• + years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or operations within a food or consumer goods manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting a / manufacturing operation
• Strong knowledge of GMPs and food safety regulations
Core Technical Environment • PLCs and controls: Allen-Bradley, ladder logic, PID, HMIs
• Automation and drives: VFDs, servos, motor control systems
• Mechanical systems: pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes
• Utilities: boilers, compressed air, refrigeration, water and wastewater systems
• Predictive tools: vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis
• CMMS and maintenance planning systems
Preferred Skills • Experience with UHT or high-temperature processing systems
• Background in consumer packaging equipment and automated filling lines
• Familiarity with TQM, SPC, and continuous improvement methodologies
