Position Highlights The School of Dance at the University of Arizona seeks a Part-time Adjunct Instructor(s) beginning August 17, 2026. As a top ranked program at a public university, we welcome applicants from a broad spectrum of dance practices with expertise in any one or all of the following: Jazz, Modern, Cotemporary, Ballroom, Tap or Choreography. The successful candidate will lead studio practice and lecture courses and may create performance works in their area of specialty. The candidate will contribute to the School of Dance through teaching that contributes to the mission of the university.
The School of Dance fosters a student-centered learning environment that encourages problem-solving, critical thinking, and conceptual analysis skills. We maintain a unique focus on performance, choreography, and pedagogy to prepare students for professional careers. Duties & Responsibilities Teach all levels of studio courses in one or more forms of Jazz, Modern, Cotemporary, Ballroom, Tap or Choreography.
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Instructors may teach the following dance practices/courses:
- Dance Technique/Studio Courses.
- Choreographic Pedagogy and Mentoring.
- Improvisational Forms.
- Music and Dance Collaboration.
- Business/Careers in Dance.
- Dance History—including non-western histories.
- General Education Large Lecture Courses in-person/online.
- Dance Technology and Digital Media.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to implement innovative pedagogies and classroom strategies that foster impactful learning experiences.
- Ability to cultivate an engaged classroom that enhances personal growth and development for students.
- Strong pedagogical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications - A Master's degree in Dance, related discipline or Equivalent Professional Dance Experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience teaching dance in an academic setting or intensive dance training environment.
