Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Labor and Delivery Discipline : RN Start Date : ASAP Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a busy Labor and Delivery unit requiring NC or compact RN licensure and strong circulate experience. Responsibilities Work in a fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit with high patient volume and acuity Care for obstetric patients 16 weeks and greater, including high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum cases Patient ratios are 2 : 1 with an average of 20 births in 24 hours and 30-40 admissions per day Obstetrical triage performed for screening and routine outpatient procedures Scheduled and unscheduled cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures performed Unit uses Epic EMR, PYXIS, and SBAR communication Required to work 12-hour night shifts (18 : 45 - 07 : 15), with every other weekend and a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule No call requirements Floating required as needed, including to high-risk maternity care units and affiliates Responsibilities include circulating for cesarean births and high-risk procedures, immediate newborn care, and routine L&D duties Unit orientation is 24 hours Scrubs are provided and must be worn (blue) No RTO (requested time off) allowed after booking; up to 7 days pre-approved RTO if not during holidays Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment falls over holiday periods Travel pairs are permitted but must be on different units Local candidates accepted at a different pay rate if residing within 50 miles Must not have been a permanent or per diem staff member with specified health systems in the past 12 months Must be comfortable floating with no restrictions or special requests Fatigue policy prohibits working more than 5 consecutive days or more than 60 hours in a week Modules and online learning must be completed pre-start and annually Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at start Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience required; 3 years preferred First-time travelers considered if experienced in high-volume similar settings Certifications required : BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP Competency in circulating to the OR, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care required Experience with Epic charting preferred Must provide two recent manager or supervisor references before start Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-621711.
