Job description
Design Engineer | Montague, MI Salary Range: $76,000 - $116,000 depending on experience Are you a skilled professional with a passion for creating innovative product designs and solving engineering challenges? The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Montague that are seeking skilled Design Engineers. By joining our network, you position yourself for opportunities aligned with your career goals. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine product designs, components, and assemblies using CAD software. Conduct design analysis, simulations, and calculations to ensure performance and reliability. Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs). Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA). Prototype, test, and validate new designs, identifying and implementing design improvements. Research and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for optimal product performance and cost-efficiency. Investigate and resolve design-related issues, non-conformances, and customer feedback. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality procedures. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and simulation tools. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication). Demonstrated experience applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Knowledge of material science, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Bonus Qualifications Experience with FEA/CFD simulation tools. Hands-on prototyping, testing, or assembly experience. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies. Advanced proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
