Purchasing Manager | Newaygo, MI Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience Are you ready to take on a challenging and rewarding opportunity in {{role_field}}? The Opportunity We are collaborating with multiple companies in Newaygo seeking experienced Purchasing Managers. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery of raw materials and components. Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers while managing existing vendor relationships and performance. Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost reduction targets. Collaborate with production and planning departments to ensure timely availability of materials and minimize inventory levels. Monitor market trends, material availability, and pricing to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities. Oversee the generation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process and supply chain. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment. Proven negotiation skills and a track record of achieving cost savings and supply chain efficiencies. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, MRP, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Experience in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and vendor performance evaluation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with advanced ERP modules (e.g., SAP MM, Oracle SCM) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for spend analysis. Industry certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management). Experience implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies or other continuous improvement initiatives within a procurement function. Demonstrated experience in global sourcing strategies, new supplier development, or managing international supply chains.
