The Leisure Activity Specialist (LAS)/ Health Care Technician I (HCT I) is responsible for staffing Main Street and the Lighthouse during operational hours and any other approved scheduled on and off unit activities. Provide basic nursing and personal care needs, provide close monitoring, and ensure resident safety by properly securing unit doors when entering and exiting the unit. The LAS/ HCT must be able to recognize changes in resident behavior and be familiar with the plan of care of each assigned resident. The LAS/HCT must be able to document observed resident behavior and care rendered written completely and accurately. The LAS/HCT functions under the direct supervision of a RN/LPN. This position is considered mandatory, which means employees are required to report to work during adverse weather and emergency conditions. In adverse weather and emergency conditions, resident care is the primary work assignment.

Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC), located in Wilson, NC, is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). With a staff of about 520, LNMTC provides support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
