The Medical Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the clinical team by providing direct patient care and administrative support. This position ensures a smooth and efficient patient experience by assisting providers during examinations, managing clinical documentation, and maintaining a safe and organized care environment.
Key responsibilities include acting as a liaison between the patient and the healthcare providers, verifying patient information, preparing patients for examination, administering injections and vaccines, assisting providers with examinations, performing various tests, demonstrating teamwork, collaborating and facilitating referrals, interacting with pharmacies, navigating the EMR system, answering messages and tasks promptly, maintaining patient confidentiality, scheduling follow-up appointments, adhering to professional standards, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and upholding professionalism.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include previous experience in a similar role, primary care experience, experience with EMR programs, experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, people living with HIV, or other underserved populations, a medical assistant diploma or certificate, and the ability to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card during the background check process.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities include the ability to work evenings and weekends as required, strong communication skills, understanding of basic STI and HIV terminology and sexual health language, demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to reducing stigma, strong communication skills, cultural competence and a non-judgmental attitude, treating all patients with respect and dignity, regardless of background or identity, compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintenance of patient confidentiality, and bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
Compensation/benefits/total rewards include a salary range of $22 per hour to $24 per hour, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid life insurance policy of $50,000, company paid parental leave, additional optional benefits such as voluntary life/AD&D, accident, cancer protection, hospital, and short-term disability insurance, a 403(b) plan with a 3% company match, and paid time off including vacation time, paid sick leave, and nine annual paid holidays.
