Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Novant Health Grants Clinic in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team!
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a vital member of the healthcare team, partnering with providers and clinical staff to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care to the patients we serve. The CMA establishes authentic, personalized relationships with patients and their chosen support systems while helping create a welcoming, compassionate, and efficient clinical experience.
In this role, the CMA coordinates and supports patient care by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, obtaining and documenting medical histories and vital signs, administering medications and immunizations within the scope of practice, performing point-of-care testing, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring timely communication and follow-up. The CMA also supports care coordination, patient education, and documentation while promoting continuity of care and positive health outcomes.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
- Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required. Refer to Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096.
- Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
