Accountant I
This position may perform any of the functional accounting responsibilities supported by the SBS (Clients Business Services) NA (North America) Finance Shared Services Organization related to Capital and Fixed Assets Accounting and Reporting. Various day-to-day accounting tasks include booking journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and analyzing financial data for all North American legal entities. The position will be heavily involved in the month end close and reporting process. Responsible for the North America closing process for specified legal entities by performing tasks required to effectively close the books (process sub-ledger transactions to record capitalization and assets movements, book journal entries, perform reconciliation and account analyses, conduct open CIP project reviews with internal customers, coordinate annual physical inventory counts, perform monthly settlements, run depreciation, investigate difference and resolve the discrepancies, communicate and troubleshoot issues with various finance teams in North America etc.). Must work closely with the SBS NA Finance Services organization to comply with Corporate accounting guidelines and any changes to the processes. Responsible for the various day-to-day accounting tasks including but not limited to process capitalization requests, make asset movements, conduct open project review to track project status, coordinate physical inventory, run settlement, depreciation, ad hoc requests from various departments such as Controlling, Custom Compliance and Tax, etc. Assists with departmental activities such as government reporting, insurance renewal, Tax audit, internal & external audit, SOX testing, KPI tracking, participate & lead in continuous improvement projects, etc. Accountable for defining and delivering service and meeting objectives defined in the SBS NA Finance Service Level Agreements for all North America. Partners with the business units to continuously improve the services, accuracy and timing of the accounting function. Maintains and cultivates partnerships with SBS Finance Services customers and suppliers to ensure integration and implementation of efficient process and policies. Supports external and internal audit requests and ensures team's compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements for assigned areas. Support various on-going projects and system upgrades affecting the Account-to-Report team including but not limited to eClose, SOLAR, A2R Rebalancing, IFRS16 Leasing Project, etc. Open to change and other special projects that may require support and assistance.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited four-year college or university
- 3+ years of experience in accounting field
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or working toward CPA certification
- Experience with SAP modules is highly preferred.
