Company Overview:

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S. providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Our state-of-the-art centers focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capability. AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Job Summary:

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and training Medical Assistant staff
  • Be available to cover shifts when staff call in
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Responsible for lab compliances; must be organized!
  • Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Medical Director as needed
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Corrective action conversations with back office employees
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Compensation: $1.00 per hour
