Job Description: Patient Escort Service Aide | Nursing Support Services | Main Campus Hours: Part-Time, 5 or 8 hour shifts between 1pm-11:30pm. Every other weekend, variable hours

In this position, you will perform a variety of services including patient transport and weighing as well as the pick-up and delivery of specimens and equipment. You Will: - Transport patients (on stretchers, wheelchairs or walking) to and from patient floors. Ensure accurate patient information and destination are correct. Assist nursing staff in transferring patients to/from bed, stretcher or wheelchair, using proper body mechanics - Disinfect patients' wheelchair/stretcher and wash own hands prior to placing patient on transport equipment - Identify various tubes/pumps and equipment, (e.g., catheter, suction, oxygen), and know the correct method of attaching them for the safe transport of patients - Monitor oxygen level in tank to ensure a safe amount for the patient's trip to and from destination point; take immediate and appropriate action for any situation in which the patient is experiencing a problem. Report any issues regarding oxygen levels to our Nursing staff - Pick up morgue stretcher, ensure that body has been prepared properly, transfer body from stretcher to refrigerator tray by using proper body mechanics and asking for assistance when needed and complete transfer in a serious and professional manner - Pick up specimens, expiration charts, and requisitions as assigned, ensuring prompt delivery to designated areas - Pick up and distribute equipment ensuring proper care maintenance - Pick up soiled equipment from inpatient floors and deliver to Central Sterile for cleaning - Transport clean equipment from Central Sterile to PES equipment room; follow departmental guidelines for maintaining PES equipment rooms and traction storage area - Ensure that designated areas are supplied with the specified number of wheelchairs and stretchers

You Have: - Must meet the requirements for N95 Mask Fit Testing upon hire in addition to annual fit testing - Ability to understand and properly apply infection control information - Able to stand and walk throughout the course of the shift and be able to push and pull light to medium weights frequently, heavy weights occasionally - Ability to function in high-stress environments, e.g., transporting acutely ill patients and respond to a CODE
