Job description
Role Overview: The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that manufactured metal components meet all required quality standards and specifications . This role involves performing first-article, in-process, and final inspections , maintaining the calibration of measurement tools, and documenting inspection results. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings , and hands-on experience with metrology equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment . The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently while also collaborating with production teams to resolve quality issues and drive improvements. Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector in a metal manufacturing environment . Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Hands-on experience with metrology equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, depth micrometers, gauge pins, thread gauges, and optical comparators . Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and tools. Familiarity with quality standards and inspection procedures. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Strong communication skills (verbal and written in English). Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Preferred Qualifications: Frequent lifting of materials up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. Regular use of hands for handling tools, measuring equipment, and inspection tasks. Frequent reaching, with occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color recognition, and depth perception. Work Environment: Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration within a manufacturing setting . Work performed in a moderate noise level environment typical of a production facility . Key Responsibilities: Perform Inspections: Conduct first article, in-process, final, and incoming inspections to ensure product quality and compliance. Maintain Calibration: Verify and maintain calibration of measurement and metrology equipment. Inspect Materials & Components: Perform inspections on raw materials, purchased parts, and external processes. Document Quality Data: Enter inspection results into quality systems and databases to maintain accurate records. Interpret Drawings: Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to validate product conformity. Identify Nonconformances: Detect and report quality issues, defects, and deviations to management. Support Corrective Actions: Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions. Conduct Root Cause Analysis: Investigate defects and support preventive measures to improve product quality. Maintain Documentation: Ensure accurate tracking of inspection records, test results, and quality reports. Improve Processes: Assist in developing and improving quality control procedures and systems. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
