Position Title: Compensation Analyst, Human Resources

Department: Human Resources

Classification: Exempt

Direct Report: Vice President, Human Resources

Position Summary

The Human Resources Compensation Analyst will research job requirements and evaluate job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of salaries and the total employee benefit package. The Compensation Analyst partners with recruitment, finance and benefits arms of the Human Resources department and ensure they have current data that forms the basis of all strategic planning and best practices. Assist executive leadership with the execution and planning on current and future staff planning and recruitment efforts, benefits, and recognition programs. Provide HR communications as it relates to compensation and total cash rewards. Maintain linked compensation platform with compensation analytical data.

Human Resources Responsibilities

  1. Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
  2. Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.
  3. Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  4. Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  5. Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary grades.
  6. Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  7. Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  8. Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials.
  9. Conducts data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations.
  10. Research employee benefits in similar industries; based on findings, partners with the Sr. Benefits Specialist to recommend changes or updates to Georgia Aquarium's existing benefits and policies.
  11. Part of the team that works with insurance brokers and investment planners to maintain our competitive, cost-effective benefits packages; when needed, aids the Sr. Benefits Specialist with implementation of open enrollment for health and welfare insurance.
  12. Serve as the project manager for the annual retirement plan audit.
  13. Partners with the Manager of Culture Engagement and the Director of Organizational Development to conduct focus groups to collect employee feedback on specific issues or topics related to benefits and compensation.
  14. Plans and communicates preferred methods and best practices for total compensation and rewards and suggests innovative ideas for short / long term incentives.
  15. Works with executive leadership on all commissioned and financial incentive plans designed to remain competitive and adhere to best practices.
  16. Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, human resource procedures, and collective agreements.
  17. Run reports in UltiPro to support and assist with invoice reconciliation and benefits administration.
  18. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related disciplines required.
  2. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or related compensation certifications preferred.
  3. Minimum of 3 years as a compensation analyst preferred.
  4. Current knowledge of personnel policies, practices, compensation, and wage/hour employment regulations.
  5. Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products. HRIS experience preferred.
  7. Exceptional and professional interpersonal, communication, presentation, time management, flexibility, decision making, planning and organizational skills
