Special Education Teacher Assistant
Canarsie Childhood Center is a state-of-the-art, approved special education preschool program in Brooklyn. Our program stresses the Common Core Standards and we offer ongoing supervision and workshops for our teaching staff. We are seeking Assistant Teachers for full-time classroom assignment.
Responsibilities
Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
Support classroom management by maintaining a positive learning environment.
Engage with children through play and educational activities to promote development.
Collaborate with other staff to adapt lesson plans and curriculum for diverse learning needs.
Qualifications
Strong classroom management skills
Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities
Effective communication and behavior management abilities
Familiarity with special education practices and early childhood education
Understanding of developmental disabilities and autism support techniques
