Field Engineer

gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the structural steel and metals fabrication industry in the Birmingham, AL area. Our client is seeking a Project / Field Engineer to support technical and field delivery of steel projects.

Position Responsibilities:

- Support project managers with technical project delivery

- Manage RFIs, submittals, and drawing coordination

- Coordinate with field crews on layout, sequencing, and issues

- Track quantities, progress, and documentation

- Support quality and safety programs

Position Essential Job Functions:

- Review drawings and specifications

- Prepare technical documentation and reports

- Visit job sites to verify progress and conditions

- Coordinate with detailers and engineers on solutions

- Assist with cost tracking and change orders

Position Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management

- 1+ years of experience in steel, construction, or engineering

- Ability to read structural and erection drawings

- Strong organization and communication skills

- OSHA 30 a plus for field roles
