Overview
The Payroll Tax Analyst has a range of responsibilities including processing payroll tax reports, assisting with end of year reporting, data entry and providing exceptional customer service to associates inquiring about tax related issues. Maintain a high level of subject matter knowledge to include all Federal, State and local taxes while participating actively as a member of a team focused on high quality customer service. This position has been segmented as Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for timely and accurate processing of required payroll tax reports, data input and audit of payroll tax information entered according to our SOX and Internal Auditor requirements.
- Data entry of manual tax withholding forms submitted by associates through a third party vendor.
- Prepares payroll reports as requested using v-lookups, pivot tables and formulas as necessary in Excel.
- Manages Payroll shared mailbox and ticketing system to research and respond to internal payroll tax inquiries in a timely fashion, manage ADP password resets, manage Equifax notifications and W2 reprint requests, etc.
- Run and audit the weekly address change report and partner with Human Resources to ensure accurate tax set ups for associates and record keeping.
- Perform daily tax funding reconciliation.
- Register for new jurisdictions as needed.
- Monthly maintenance of AK Occupational and Geographic Codes.
- IRS Lock in Letters processing.
- Monthly/quarterly loads for taxable benefits into Workday.
- Maintains Operating Procedure documentation.
- Researches and corrects payroll errors to include wage and tax balance adjustments.
- Assists the payroll team in making sure that all payroll related tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner to produce weekly and biweekly payroll supporting 65+ divisions with approx. 30,000 associates.
- Assists with Subpoena/Legal requests.
- Assists with quarterly and year end auditing including SUI rates at ADP.
- Assists with the W2 and W2c process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Training
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
- CPP Certification preferred
Related Experience
- 3+ years of experience with high volume, multi-state employee base is required
- 3+ years of Payroll system experience is required
- Workday experience is strongly preferred
- Sarbanes-Oxley implementation experience is preferred
- ADP tax filing experience preferred
- Kronos experience is preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Intermediate Excel required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational, analytical and project management skills
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and motivated to complete all necessary work
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; can perform at a high level under intense deadline pressure
- Strong customer service mindset
This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $50,000 – $80,000.
