Transportation Position
This is the first of two levels in the Transportation series. Incumbents transport clients and maintain an assigned vehicle. Responsibilities may include inspecting an assigned vehicle to identify maintenance needs; receiving transportation requests by radio and/or phone; assisting clients in and out of a vehicle; transporting clients to a variety of locations; and documenting work activities.

- Drives a bus, van, or other motorized vehicle for the purpose of transporting clients to applicable locations.
- Performs routine cleaning and bus maintenance activities which includes conducting re-fueling activities, maintaining assigned fuel use logs, and reporting perceived or potential bus defects.
- Communicates via two-way radio to receive pick up and drop off instructions; maintains records of arrival, departure, and travel times.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
Education and experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and one year commercial driving experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Licensing requirement: Valid Commercial or Chauffeur's Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement as per State law or requirement.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
An employee in this position will be supplied with a uniform, provided by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. The employee is responsible for abiding by the Police Jury's Uniform Agreement.
