Investment Manager - Product Research Associate III

As an Investment Manager - Product Research Associate III within PNC Wealth Management, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA at the Tower at PNC Plaza. PNC is an in-office company that fosters a supportive culture where employees can thrive and achieve balance. Job Responsibilities

  • Investment Manager / Fund Research Perform manager research, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring across investment vehicles including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), separately managed accounts (SMAs), and third-party multi-asset solutions for the PNC Wealth Management (PNCWM) approved list. Source new ideas using industry tools and other resources to identify strategies that meet high standards for performance, risk management, process, and operational quality. Conduct manager interviews, document findings, develop recommendations, and present to the firm's investment committee.
  • Portfolio Construction & Advisory Model Management Support the management and maintenance of the firm's wrap program model overlays. Responsibilities include evaluating capital market assumptions, selecting default strategies/funds, monitoring performance and risk, performing performance attribution, setting strategic asset allocations, and recommending tactical adjustments based on the firm's market views. Assist with model implementation and trading coordination, and help design new model portfolios to meet a range of client objectives, constraints, and risk profiles.
  • Thought Leadership & Communication Create and deliver timely investment perspectives and market commentary for financial advisors and, when appropriate, clients. Demonstrate strong writing skills and clear verbal communication when presenting to internal stakeholders.
  • Team Strategy & Market Awareness Continuously monitor the investment landscape for emerging trends, new products, and competitive developments. Help ensure the PNCWM platform remains high quality, differentiated, and aligned to client needs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner effectively across risk, legal, compliance, supervision, marketing, sales leadership, operations, and investment committees. Use a collegial, diplomatic approach to build consensus and execute research and platform initiatives with appropriate governance and controls.
  • Quantitative Analysis & Reporting Build and maintain performance, risk, and exposure reporting to support product decisions, portfolio positioning, and advisor conversations.
  • Data & Tools Use investment databases and analytics platforms and Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint to collect data, perform analysis, and produce clear, decision-ready materials.
  • Governance, Documentation & Controls Maintain thorough research files and documentation supporting recommendations, monitoring decisions, and model changes. Ensure processes align with applicable policies, compliance requirements, and risk oversight.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management Manage multiple research and platform initiatives concurrently, prioritize effectively, and communicate progress, timelines, and implications to stakeholders.
  • Experience 35 years of relevant experience in investment research, manager due diligence, portfolio analytics, or a related role.
  • Licensing FINRA Series 7 and SIE (or ability to obtain required licenses within the first six months of employment, per firm policy).
  • Preferred Credentials CFA charterholder (or candidate) and/or CFP certification preferred.

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
